Responsible Peatland Management: The Heart of Our Environmental Stewardship

Since our beginnings, we have been managing peatlands. In the 1980s, we began our active involvement in restoration research, which continues to this day, promoting practices that support both environmental and economic well-being. After harvest, we restore peatlands, reestablishing their self-regulation mechanisms to accumulate peat and sequester carbon, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

Protecting the Wild, Supporting the Bold

We are proud to help preserve local species like the short-eared owl, contribute to the Woodland Caribou Range Plan, and responsibly manage beaver dams. Just as we strive to safeguard biodiversity, we support athletes from various fields—individuals who, like us, exemplify determination and a commitment to reaching new heights.

Our Veriflora®-certified peatlands follow the highest standards of sustainable development, with annual GHG emissions inventories setting the benchmark for the industry. This certification is also a testament to our responsible peatland management, continuous improvement efforts, and biodiversity promotion.

Water Stewardship: A Commitment to Responsible Practices

Understanding water scarcity, we measure our water footprint and harvest rainwater to replenish groundwater. Rainwater is channelled into artificial ponds and lakes, while rooftop systems support factory use. These efforts reflect our dedication to sustainable resource management and environmental preservation.

History

Building on Premier Tech’s peat expertise developed since 1923, PRO-MIX® was launched in 1968 as a line of professional growing media, establishing a standard for consistency and reliability.

As Premier Tech advanced its research on beneficial microorganisms and their interaction with plants, we started integrating biologicals into PRO-MIX® growing media, beginning with mycorrhizae in 1989 and Bacillus in 2003, supporting plant performance.

Over time, we expanded the PRO-MIX® offer with grow bag formats, providing ready-to-use solutions that support operational efficiency. We also extended the substrate portfolio to include coco-based growing media, offering additional options adapted to growers' facilities.

Today, we apply our expertise directly to cannabis cultivation. We work with licensed cannabis cultivators to meet their operational needs, offering peat- and coco-based, biologically enhanced substrates and ready-to-use solutions adapted to today’s production systems, while taking into account sustainability considerations related to material sourcing and peatland stewardship.
